This term, the P6/7 pupils have been learning about debates in their Literacy lessons. They have looked at why they take place, how they take place and what types of topics can be debated. It has been lots of fun as they have shared their reasons ‘for’ or ‘against’ an argument. We even linked it into our class novel of Kensuke’s Kingdom as the children had to decide if it was a good idea that Michael’s family left all they had to travel the world on a yacht! I was so impressed by the boys and girls respect for each others’ views during their mini debates. There was also lots of critical thinking on the pros and cons of the topic. Well done everyone!
